You forget that he was talking about the leaders of the Synagogue. He did not say this of the many huge crowds of Jews that followed him in the streets and loved him. The weekend before, the people in the streets were calling him the "king" which is why he ended up with the "King of the Jews" sign over his head on the cross.
Note.
Read the whole bible.
Jesus is never mean to a sinner.
Not Gentile. Not Jew.
He is talking to the children of Satan who are in control of the Synagogue here, not the Jewish people, who were horrified to wake up and find him being crucified one morning.
So many real common Jews loved Christ, that the leaders literally tried to wait until the Passover was over with to crucify him. They were afraid of the riots from the crowds of Jews from all over Israel, required to be in the city for Passover.
