When you have the puzzle border completed, group the remaining pieces by color, pattern, texture or content.
Focus on each of those piles separately an individually.
When you’ve exhausted the easy potential there and incremental effort seems frustrating, start attempting to piece the larger sections against the border or one another.
Don’t chase every piece of the puzzle. Focus on effort that produces gains. Or answers questions.
In the end there will be very few stray pieces that were hard to place and their place will become obvious.
