"A top aide to newly minted Illinois U.S. Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia is out after a New York Times story earlier this week spotlighted allegations that the man made light of a woman's sexual harassment complaints while both were working on Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign.

The woman, a Latino outreach strategist on the campaign, said when she reported the incident to Velazquez, he told her, “I bet you would have liked it if he were younger.” Another woman who witnessed the exchange said the same thing. He then reportedly laughed."

"A federal corruption case against a powerful City Council member has rocked the crowded race for Chicago mayor.

[Longtime Chicago Alderman Ed Burke] was charged with attempted extortion in a criminal complaint unsealed Thursday. Federal prosecutors allege he pressured executives of a major fast-food restaurant chain to become clients at Burke's tax law firm in exchange for a remodeling permit in his ward.

They say he also pressured the executives to donate money to another politician, who now is running for mayor.
