From my PG-digging days, I'm remembering that is the name of the little girl in various pictures on Alefantis' Instagram, but that needs to be confirmed. As I google again, I'm finding a medical company Caris, also a for-profit hospice chain that operates in Tennessee, Virginia, and South Carolina that settled a false claim lawsuit, but the biggie that came up during PG-digs is Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations, ponder that. I'm also remembering someone commenting in one of the Instagram photos, making some kind of inappropriate joke on the name that only insiders would get, but that also might have been related to something else related to her, although the joke was definitely related to her, and I don't think it was hotard.

I have wondered if that was actually a surrogate pregnancy, with Alefantis actually being the father. It looked like he was carting her around (just saw some posts saying maybe him) as he travelled.
I also forgot to add there's at least one Caris something or other in Haiti and a coloboma-related (which kid's eye seems to show) organization, acronym CARIS.
