The symbolism of papal red shoes is meant to evoke the blood of Christ who walked what is known as the stages of the cross.

Pope Francis does not wear the traditional red shoes.

The Red Shoe Society is a charitable organization (see pic).

For emphasis, current pope does not wear the red shoes.

See pic. Francis said his choice expresses the humble piety of the impoverished. On the other hand, he has rejected the symbolism (okay perhaps not rejected in his beliefs but at least in outward symbolism that holds significance to those who appreciate the blood of martyrs – present day martyrs included) as per the attached pic.

That is, papal submission to the ultimate authority of Jesus Christ.

And, yes, I do think that the ped version of red shoes is symbolic of walking in hell and as such is a direct inversion of the blood of martyrs and the blood and suffering of Christ.

Suffering children are martyrs of a kind, it seems to me.

Where we see red SOLES of shoes we see the flaunting of rapacious wealth. In addition, with the peds, it is a flaunting of treading on the blood of Christ – and his call for followers to be like children. Horrific symbolism when turned against innocence, yes.
