That was also my read: vaguely about "who's responsible," but mostly about "who's gonna pay?" And in the end it's always the innocent citizen. Because that's how they roll.

 

I do wonder how many palms are open given the sums of money involved.

You can't see it in this clip, but in longer clips from yesterday and over the last 8 weeks, it's been pretty clear that most of the police are carrying sidearms.

Correct, they're Gendarmerie which is French military performing internal policing functions.

 

Some people think the red armband "police" are Direction générale de la sécurité intérieure (DGSI) and have been involved in the Antifa-like agitation/violence/vandalism, of course to discredit the yellow vest movement.
