I always thought (incorrectly) that upstream collection was the 2-hop rule of who they can collect on, but:

 

Upstream Collection is NSA's collection of telephone and Internet traffic from the Internet backbone

 

… so almost anything that is transmitted across the inter-web is being collected on (((those))) that illegally targeted [ ]

 

  • emails

  • texts

  • anything Alexa, Siri heard you say

  • Google (el al) spyware data collections

  • geotags

  • etc, etc, etc … they literally have it all
