I could be wrong, but I do not think we are going to see the position of the President last longer than Trump. I think we will see an extension of the Presidency for a few years, but most of the federal government will be completely dismantled and a convention drawn among the states.
I don't think we are going to see a re-opening of the federal government. I think this is the first stage of shutting down the non-essential services and it will only ramp up from here until we basically have a system of military tribunals and a forum for the states to hammer out a new Constitution in.
