Israeli Army Attacks Observation Posts Of Hamas In Response To “Balloons Attack”

At the afternoon of January 6, unknown individuals flew a bunch of balloons attached to a model plane from the Gaza Strip to Israel territory around it. The model plane was reportedly labeled with a logo from the Gaza engineering college.

The model plane provoked a strong response from the Israeli military, which revealed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was hidden inside of it. The military held the Palestinian Hamas Movement responsible for the attack attempt and announced that its warplanes carried out two airstrikes on positions of the group in Gaza.

“Hamas will bear the consequences of its actions,” the Israeli military said on Twitter.

The Palestinian Shehab Agency confirmed that Israeli warplanes targeted two observation posts of Hamas in the areas of Khuza’a and Malka. The airstrikes didn’t result in any casualties.

Last October, the Gaza Strip witnessed a dangerous confrontation between Hamas and the Israeli military, during which each side carried out dozens of attacks against the other. The new incident will not likely develop into a similar confrontation as no one was hurt on both sides.

Americans Look for Better Jobs as Employment Soars

The year of 2018 closed on a positive note, capping off a stunning month of job growth in December, as more Americans decided to look for work and were also emboldened to quit their jobs at the year’s end.

The economy added 312,000 jobs, the most since February, making it the best December for job growth since 1999, according to seasonally adjusted data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Moreover, estimates for November and October were revised up by a total of 58,000.

The private sector added 301,000 non-farm jobs in December, pushing the monthly average for 2018 to nearly 214,000, the second-best since 1999.

Paradoxically, unemployment has also increased in December, from 3.7 percent to 3.9 percent. The data shows it was mostly because some 140,000 people quit their jobs to look for a new one and also because some 80,000 people who previously weren’t seeking employment started job hunting again.

More people quitting amid a strong job market suggests that more Americans feel they can do better for themselves and are sufficiently confident they can land a new job.

People’s voluntary quitting may also signal a boost to productivity as it gives them a chance to find employment or start a business more suited to their skill set.

Productivity grew at a 2.3 percent pace in the third quarter while average hourly earnings increased by 84 cents, or 3.2 percent, since December 2017.

Hispanics Still on a Roll

Hispanic unemployment continued a historically low streak, inching down to 4.4 percent and thus matching the record low set just two months earlier, based on BLS data stretching back to 1973. In the data unadjusted for seasonal changes, the Hispanic female unemployment rate dropped to a new historic low of 4.3 percent.

The commonly reported unemployment rate only includes jobless people who’ve sought employment in the preceding four weeks. The rate stagnated at 7.6 percent in December when counting people who looked for a job in the past year and also those who have part-time jobs but want a full-time one.

Use Hollywood films to counter China & Russia: Integrity Initiative psyop plan exposed in new leaks

UK-backed covert influence network apparently planned to use its connections to ensure Hollywood and foreign-language films put out a pro-Western message and sought to influence awards like the Oscars and Baftas, show leaked docs.

“We need to refocus and reenergize 'Western' entertainment to combat increasing authoritarianism and illiberal tendencies worldwide, how to go about doing so BUT without it being 'propaganda',” states an undated “Memorandum” uploaded online last week, in the fourth tranche of leaks from the international Foreign Office-funded Integrity Initiative.

The PDF document title bears the name of Victor Madeira, a leading researcher at the Institute for Statecraft, the parent body of Integrity Initiative, who has featured extensively in files that have been anonymously leaked online since early November.

World no longer believes in President Bill Pullman

It begins with concern at China’s growing grasp on US media assets. AMC Theaters, the second-largest American cinema chain, film studio Legendary, Dick Clark Productions, which puts on the Golden Globes, are just several companies that have been bought – often at premium prices – by Chinese investors in the past decade.

“Films critical of Beijing/China's past or present policies are not as easy to make any more or, if they are made, they won't now be carried by Chinese-owned US cinema chains,” writes the author.

“If studios know their bottom-line is going to be affected by taking on politically sensitive projects, they will self-censor. Job done.”

The author acknowledges that selling liberal democratic values is an uphill task, not only due to fear of losing money – Hollywood is “increasingly driven purely by financial considerations” – but also because audiences are “no longer receptive to or interested in such content” in a “polarised” world.

America's last? First Senate bill of 2019 aims to protect Israel from boycott, report reveals

With the start of the 2019 legislative session, one might hope the US Senate would prioritize ending the two-week government shutdown. Instead, the Senate’s first bill of the year reportedly aims to protect Israel from boycotts.

According to The Intercept, the first piece of legislation to be rolled out by the 2019 GOP-controlled Senate will give the US government the authority to cut ties with companies that choose to boycott Israel. The not-very-America-first decree is part of a series of foreign policy-related measures which will make up S.1 – the designation given to the symbolically important first bill of the session.

The boycott-banning legislation has apparently taken precedence over the ongoing government shutdown – already the third-longest on record, shuttering nine departments and leaving hundreds of thousands of government workers without paychecks.

Jeremiah 11:9-10

9 Then the Lord said to me, “There is a conspiracy among the people of Judah and those who live in Jerusalem. 10 They have returned to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both Israel and Judah have broken the covenant I made with their ancestors.
