Canned meats - chili without beans, chicken, tuna, SPAM, etc - can be a lifesaver and can be purchased anywhere (if you don't have the wherewithal to buy some cases of dried survival foods.)
Keep a few cases of Sterno canned fuel, the type used for buffets, it is available at Walmart, Costco and probably most supermarkets. There are Sterno stoves available but you can make do with just the cans if necessary.
