No one has told them to do that or given them any direction. Whatever your skill is or whatever you can do, just DO IT and if it's solid it will last survive and help everyone else, if it doesn't get noticed well then you practiced your skill and you will do better the next time you dig / meme / connect / make infograph / make website / make youtube /talk to friends and family.
