The attack used the media news cycle to fullest advantage with the start to finish done and dusted by the 5pm Friday hand wringing account by John Campbell who could barely look at the camera without laughing.

Incorrect
The firearms used are readily available and were specifically targeted in this attack. A cat configuration rifles are AR15 with small mags using 7 rounds where E cat rifles are legally allowed 30 round mags.
This attack hit the areas the police union boss Chris Cahill has been trying to target with outright lies and fabricated stories for months. This had all the elements they were looking for:
A licensed shooter
legal ownership of A cat gun modified to E cat by illegal use of 30 round mags.
White supremacist (who ironically was most influenced by a black lady). A far right person who most closely relates to the PRC for a model country (no irony there).
A method to shut down the debate on immigration and refugees by guilt and manipulation of public opinion.
Past Police union boss was Greg Oconnor who assisted the media to illegally buy a rifle with forged credentials and then make a big story about the "loophole". He resigned and was awarded the parliamentary seat.
The NZ Police Association president has been a political position advocating for armed police and disarmed citizens. They have been doing everything possible for the last 15 years to drive a wedge between the people and the Police who have been traditionally very close, unlike most other countries.
