Only the church would make up a "rule" that you need to confess to them all your sins in order to be forgiven for doing them.
Classic Slave-making mentality.
God already knows your sins. You should be confessing to Him and asking His forgiveness. Not asking the middleman to forgive you.
BTW, I don't attend church for this reason. I don't need a middleman with his hand out. I can pray without that.
