France Moves To Ban All Protests As PM Announces Major Crackdown On Yellow Vests

France is signaling it’s making preparations for a massive new crackdown on the gilets jaunes or “yellow vests” anti-government protests that have gripped the country for seven weeks. A new law under consideration could make any demonstration illegal to begin with if not previously approved by authorities, in an initiative already being compared to the pre-Maiden so-called “dictatorship law” in Ukraine.

In the name of reigning in the violence that has recently included torching structures along the prestigious Boulevard Saint Germain in Paris, and smashing through the gates of government ministry buildings, the French government appears set to enact something close to a martial law scenario prohibiting almost any protest and curtailing freedom of speech.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard rightly blasts ‘religious bigotry’ of fellow Democrats

In a stunning act of political courage, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, effectively accused two of her own party’s senators of “religious bigotry” for their harsh inquiries about Nebraska judicial nominee Brian Buescher’s membership in a religious service organization. She’s absolutely right.

Gabbard had a column published in the Hill on Tuesday in which she took to task two senators “who are fomenting religious bigotry, citing as disqualifiers Buescher’s Catholicism and his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus.” Though she didn't mention them by name, it's pretty clear Gabbard is chastizing Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, who asked Buescher if his Catholicism and membership in the Knights would cast into doubt whether he could hear cases “fairly and impartially.”

Facebook and Twitter consult with Hamas-linked CAIR over who gets banned from their platforms

The Hamas-tied Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is best known as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing case in U.S. history, appears to have access to high-ranking Facebook and Twitter executives and has communicated with these individuals about who should be allowed to stay on their platforms, according to a Wall Street Journal report published Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal reports that CAIR officials “complained to Twitter” about activist Laura Loomer, citing a tweet in which she called the anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., an anti-Semite and an apologist for Sharia law. Loomer was later permanently banned from Twitter.

Zahra Billoo, the executive director of CAIR’s San Francisco chapter, was quoted in the Journal piece as an individual who appears to have special access to both Twitter and Facebook.

“The council doesn’t often step in to advocate against other users, says Executive Director Zahra Billoo, but did so in the case of Ms. Loomer based on her previous comments about Muslims,” the piece explains.
