I think that's a very real possibility. If what a lot of us believe is true, it might be the calmest way to clean out the traitors in government, industry, finance, and media. It is a mighty distraction, a laser pointer POTUS is using on the left.

The longer it is shut down, the more people will realize that the "non essential" personnel who are furloughed are indeed just that, non essential. It also makes trimming the federal workforce even easier, as there are less and less employees to deal with in cutting the workforce. As they have to step up and pick up the slack from the non essentials, many will quit, some will be demoted/discouraged/discharged, and those that remain will hopefully be the best of the bunch.

I can see this continuing until the government is but a fraction of its current size, leaner, cheaper, and more efficient. Responsiveness to the peoples needs should improve as would accountability. For my money, keep it shut down until we've realized this outcome.
