I think it's bigger than that even.
I think it stems from the plan of the evil one that they all worship - the devil, satan, lucifer, whatever you wanna call this evil entity. They are getting the children very early because of one thing and one thing only. They are trying to get to them BEFORE they ever get a chance to even learn or hear about God and about Jesus Christ and getting born again with Holy Spirit. Why? That is the only thing the evil one has left to do. He knows he has totally lost the game. But he will take as many as he can down with him by fooling them into thinking that this is right and this is the only way of life for them. This keeps the children in a very warpped state of mind and keeps them away from the love and truth of God and His Word. They end up not getting saved and the devil wins.
