Five IDF soldiers arrested for beating Palestinians

The five, who serve in the ultra-Orthodox Netzach Yehuda Battalion, will be brought to Military Court today to face charges.

The military police arrested an Israeli platoon commander and four combat soldiers on Wednesday for allegedly beating two Palestinians who they had detained, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.

The five, who serve in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, will be brought to a military court today to face charges

During a military court hearing, the court extended the detention for the officer until Sunday and for the combat soldiers until Tuesday.

While the military did not provide a date when the beating took place, the two Palestinians who had been arrested – and were then beaten – were detained in the Ramallah area as part of the army’s efforts to locate As’am Barghouti, who killed two soldiers from the Netazah Yehuda battalion outside the West Bank outpost of Givat Assaf.

The military is investigating whether the soldiers had been motivated by revenge for their comrades killed in the deadly attack.

According to a report by Haaretz, one of the Palestinians was badly beaten and needed urgent medical care. He could not be interrogated.

The Netzah Yehuda battalion, which was established 20 years ago, is made up of religious soldiers ranging from ultra-Orthodox Israelis to new immigrants to those who identify with the settler movement.

In the past couple of years, the battalion – which operates mainly in the West Bank – has been involved in a number of violent incidents where soldiers have been accused of severe abuse including violent beatings and even electrocuting Palestinians who are in their custody.

ROGER STONE EXCLUSIVE: We Will Reveal Who FBI Informant “Henry Greenberg” Is, Why the FBI Let Him in Country, And Why He Tried to Set Me Up

NO RUSSIAN COLLUSION, NO WIKILEAKS COLLABORATION AND NO PERJURY

By Roger Stone

The recent decision by special counsel Robert Mueller to request the transcript of my 4 1/2 hours of closed -door testimony before the house intelligence committee is the result of an insidious and relentless one-year campaign of distortion and disinformation by Congressman Adam Schiff and his flunkies on House Intelligence Committee.

Please remember that I wanted my testimony to be in public so that everyone could make their own decisions about my veracity and agreed to testify behind closed doors only reluctantly and did so voluntarily that even today I am not allowed to have a copy of the transcript of my own testimony. While my attorneys are allowed to travel to Washington to review my testimony they must go to a secure a room in the house of representatives where they are not allowed to take notes. I have called repeatedly for the public release of my testimony by the Committee to no avail.

“The contacts between Roger Stone and his associates and Wikileaks that we are seeing more publicly about, indicate that his testimony was far from truthful before our committee, but that the contacts with Wikileaks were more extensive than was known”- Rep. Adam Schiff. This is a bald-faced lie from world class con man and bullschiff artist. I identified the source who told me of both the political significance and the October release of the Wikileaks disclosures as former New York talk show host Randy Credico and I turned over an innocuous twitter direct message exchange with the Wikileaks PR person to the Committee over a year ago.

If Schiff is referring to recent reports regarding Jerry Corsi, he denies any contact with Wikileaks or Assange and I know of no evidence to the contrary. I challenge this huckster to put up any evidence to prove his defamatory charge . Time to Schiff or get off the pot!

Personally, I take the fact that Schiff is urging Mueller to jack me up me with some phony perjury charge as proof positive that neither the Special Counsel nor the House Intelligence Committee Democrats have any evidence of Russian collusion, collaboration with WikiLeaks or any proof whatsoever that I had advance knowledge of the source or content of the WikiLeaks disclosures that so roiled the 2016 campaign.

There is positively no evidence whatsoever that I received anything including allegedly hacked emails from WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, Dr. Jerry Corsi, Russian intelligence or anyone else.

Complicit in this attempt at distortion are a number of fake news reporters who aren’t even smart enough to hide their bias and unprofessionalism or the fact that Schiff and his cohorts are their sources for the torrent of recycled disinformation which they gleefully publish. They endlessly report Randy Credico’s denials that he was my (perfectly legal) source but fail to report the more than 30 pages of text messages I released proving my testimony in this regard is entirely truthful.

5G mobile revolution designed in Israel

Qualcomm Israel’s Assaf Touboul and Ronen Sheashua tell “Globes” about the unheard-of download speeds and greener networks coming soon.

Qualcomm Israel VP technology Assaf Touboul starts the conversation with an unequivocal statement: “Qualcomm’s first 5G cellular was developed in Israel in Hod Hasharon, and will be launched in 2019.” The pride he feels at this enormous achievement is unmistakable.

Touboul founded Ra’anana-based DesignArt, acquired by Qualcomm in 2012. Qualcomm Israel VP engineering Ronen Sheashua worked with him, and they are continuing to develop what they began at DesignArt – advanced developments for future generations of mobile communications.

Qualcomm needs no introduction. It is a leading global developer of chips and processors for mobile communications networks. Its development center in Hod Hasharon is leading the most advanced technology – the DNA of mobile communications.

Touboul: “Qualcomm is developing chips, and the first generation of 5G is being developed here.

“Globes”: Explain yourself.

“5G is an umbrella of various technologies that covers many spheres. The first and most common is the Internet of Things (IoT) – connecting a great many devices to the Internet, such as refrigerators, lighting, garbage cans, and cameras. We aren’t focusing on this so much. We’re more interested in developing the ability to achieve very high bandwidth speeds with very low latency.”

What does that mean?

“A capacity of about 50 times what there is now on 4G, with shorter latencies (response times, G.P.) than there are today. What this actually does is facilitate very dynamic interactivity with the Internet.

“This means that processing, which currently takes place on the device, will take place on the cloud or the Internet in the future. Processing for the use of apps will take place on the cloud, not the device. Due to the high speed made possible by 5G, however, the user will not feel the difference at all; he will still feel that processing is taking place within his device. This provides opportunities for a great many new apps in augmented reality, for example, which require many capacities, and also in autonomous cars.”

Escalation: US Slaps Export Ban On Huawei’s Silicon Valley Subsidiary

Despite the first round of US-China trade talks reportedly reaching an “optimistic” conclusion as the two sides made progress on a number of issues – including China’s controversial officially-sanctioned IP theft – the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that the US is continuing its crackdown on Huawei Technologies by prohibiting a US-based Huawei subsidiary from exporting technologies developed in a Silicon Valley lab back to the mainland.

The escalation comes as the US is warning its allies to avoid Huawei’s telecoms equipment due to concerns about its vulnerability to infiltration by the Chinese government, to which Huawei reportedly maintains close ties (though Huawei insists that it is an independent company cooperatively owned by its employees). The US is also in the process of extraditing Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou over charges that she knowingly lied to banks to try and conceal violations of US and EU sanctions against Iran.

Well Whaddya Know! No 5G For Israel!

Well surprise, surprise! Not only is Israel “lagging behind” on internet speeds (it appears they are still using 3G based on the speeds reported in the article below), they are also still running copper wiring into the homes of the Israeli people providing them with the most protective wiring from non-ionizing radiation frequencies. Lucky thing for the Israelis that their government is not trying to kill them, as opposed to say, the American government (also controlled by Israelis), which estimates the elimination of at least 2/3 of the American population by 2025.

The Startup Nation has slow internet.

In fact, not only is Israel’s internet speed slow, it is also increasing more slowly than other countries’. A lack of competition in the market means there is little incentive for the only two major suppliers to invest in costly infrastructure, resulting in Israelis not having the speed they need in a world that is becoming increasingly digitalized.

According to a report published last month by M-Lab that looked at internet speeds from June 2017 to May 2018, Israel ranks 70th out of 200 nations surveyed, and is losing pace compared with other nations.

The nation has an average download speed of 7.64 megabits per second, well below the global average of 9.10 Mbps, for the period studied. In the same period a year earlier, Israel ranked 60th out of the 189 nations surveyed, with an average download speed of 7.2 Mbps.

Israel’s internet speed is listed among the lowest for European states, just above Bosnia and Herzegovina, ranked 71.

Montenegro (74), Georgia (77), Albania (86), Turkey (91) and Armenia (107) were the only European countries that came in below Israel and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The data for the report was collected by M-Lab — a partnership between New America’s Open Technology Institute, Google Open Source Research, Princeton University’s Planet Lab and others — and compiled by Cable.

“There is a lack of investment in infrastructure,” said Lavi Shiffman, a member of the board of the Israel Internet Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the use of the internet for research and collaboration. “If you don’t march forward you go backward.”

For Owners of Amazon’s Ring Security Cameras, Strangers May Have Been Watching Too

The “smart home” of the 21st century isn’t just supposed to be a monument to convenience, we’re told, but also to protection, a Tony Stark-like bubble of vigilant algorithms and internet-connected sensors working ceaselessly to watch over us. But for some who’ve welcomed in Amazon’s Ring security cameras, there have been more than just algorithms watching through the lens, according to sources alarmed by Ring’s dismal privacy practices.

Ring has a history of lax, sloppy oversight when it comes to deciding who has access to some of the most precious, intimate data belonging to any person: a live, high-definition feed from around — and perhaps inside — their house. The company has marketed its line of miniature cameras, designed to be mounted as doorbells, in garages, and on bookshelves, not only as a means of keeping tabs on your home while you’re away, but of creating a sort of privatized neighborhood watch, a constellation of overlapping camera feeds that will help police detect and apprehend burglars (and worse) as they approach. “Our mission to reduce crime in neighborhoods has been at the core of everything we do at Ring,” founder and CEO Jamie Siminoff wrote last spring to commemorate the company’s reported $1 billion acquisition payday from Amazon, a company with its own recent history of troubling facial recognition practices. The marketing is working; Ring is a consumer hit and a press darling.

Despite its mission to keep people and their property secure, the company’s treatment of customer video feeds has been anything but, people familiar with the company’s practices told The Intercept. Beginning in 2016, according to one source, Ring provided its Ukraine-based research and development team virtually unfettered access to a folder on Amazon’s S3 cloud storage service that contained every video created by every Ring camera around the world. This would amount to an enormous list of highly sensitive files that could be easily browsed and viewed. Downloading and sharing these customer video files would have required little more than a click. The Information, which has aggressively covered Ring’s security lapses, reported on these practices last month.
