When Pizzagate/Pedogate first broke, I didn't quite believe it. Then I went back and researched historic cases of similar scandals. Spent many hours reading/watching about such heinous acts as:
The Franklin Cover Up
The Conspiracy of Silence
The Johny Gosh Case
The Presido Affair
The McMartin Preschool Case
The Dutroux Affair
Then I resumed Pizzagate research and in short order, I knew it all was, and is:
TRUE

Some people actually do adopt children from poverty-stricken countries to raise as and with their own with no malevolent intent. They feel compelled to do God's work in very actionable ways. God Bless Them.
In this particular case, I think it could only serve to help quell liberal outcry. But they will find something else, we can be certain. Sigh.

Recovering Catholic here, but not because of alleged prayers to saints and statues. I left b/c of the first round of pedo priests that began to surface in the late 70's and 80's. It had always struck me as odd, too, that Roman Catholic priests are not permitted to marry. (As are Greek Orthodox Catholic priests.)
Still, I was raised Roman Catholic back in the days of no-meat-on-Fridays and Latin masses and mandatory Catechism on Mondays.
So I know the doctrine well.
You are mistaken about worshipping Mary and/or any of the other saints. Catholics believe in the Trinity – Father, Son, Holy Spirit, same as any other Christian denomination. The "Hail Mary" is a prayer reflective of when the angel came to tell Mary she was "Blessed Art Thou Among Women and Blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb, JESUS."
The Hail Mary is an intercessory prayer, NOT praying TO Mary.
"Pray FOR us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death."

Eh…I've changed churches several times in my adult life. Went Episcopalian for awhile then got shocked out of it when the priest began to preach about homosexual rights from the pulpit. Tried evangelical for awhile and was actually re-baptized in the local river. But there, too, was its own form of of self-righteous assholes disguised as Good Christians who were especially adept at noting the splinter in others' eyes while completely in denial of the log in theirs.
Nowadays, I stick to my bible, prayer, and meditations.
Still say Hail Mary's too.
