I was just about to write a post to the same affect when I read yours. I can remember the days when smoking was allowed on a maternity ward (as well as everywhere else). I'm not saying it was right or wrong, only pointing out that it was acceptable and happened. I also know for a fact that smoking in and of itself is not the cause of every known ill as doctors would have smokers believe. And I can personally testify that smoking doesn't cause underweight babies - stress does. As a smoker, and having produced 9 of the buggers, all were eight and a half pounds plus apart from two who were underweight by my standard (6 - 7lbs) due to incredibly stressful pregnancies due to circumstances beyond my/our control. I just think there's something fishy when the whole world, led by governments, goes racing off the anti-smoking cliff en masse. When have the lemmings ever got anything right?
