American accused of spying in Moscow had plenty of ‘friends’ with Russian military ties – report

The former US marine detained in Moscow on spying charges had for long been a user of the Russian social media network VK, and almost half of the people he chatted with there seem to have links to the Russian military.

Paul Whelan, who also holds British, Irish and Canadian citizenships, seemed to have a particular penchant for Russia. His account on Russia’s most popular social network, VK, is more than a decade old although he had just 55 friends. But nearly half of them, notably, had either a military education or a history of military service, Reuters reports.

At least 12 of his friends on VK had received military education in Russia, while another 11 apparently had served in the Russian Army, the report says, adding that the list of Whelan’s acquaintances also includes people from the IT, engineering or civil aviation circles.

Guns are safe… right… Q

JUST IN: 5 Republicans BREAK RANKS And Join Democrats In GUN LEGISLATION

Five Republican House members have joined the Democrat push to criminalize private gun sales.

The five are Reps. Peter King (R-NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Brian Mast (R-FL).

King is a sponsor of the bill to criminalize private gun sales, standing with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) for more gun control. And Rep. Mast is continuing to show a penchant for gun control he first displayed after the Parkland school shooting, when he called for President Trump to enact a national ban on the sale of AR-15 rifles, Breitbart reports.

NPR reports that Rep. King said, “When background checks are used, they keep guns out of the hands of people we all agree shouldn’t have guns.”

It would be the first major gun legislation to get a vote in the House since the 1994 crime bill that temporarily banned the manufacture and sale of certain semi-automatic firearms. The Senate has tried, and failed, in the years since to pass legislation affecting gun sales, background checks and gun safety, but the House continually sidestepped the issue because of Democratic inaction or Republican opposition.

New GOP Legislation To Make Mexican Drug Cartels Pay for Border Wall

House Republicans introduced legislation this week that would allow the federal government to use money and property seized from Mexican drug cartels to pay for border security, which could potentially break the gridlock in Washington over funding a wall.

Following President Donald Trump’s Oval Office address on Tuesday night, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin announced his plans to reintroduce the Build Up Illegal Line Defenses With Assets Lawfully Lifted (BUILD WALL) Act.

According to a news release from the Republican, “This legislation would direct money and assets seized from Mexican drug cartels to be used to increase border security between the U.S./Mexican border.

“In addition to building a physical wall, the funding may also be used to construct other types of barriers or to implement technology-supported solutions where appropriate,” the release said.

Sensenbrenner argued his legislation offers a way out of the stalemate over funding the construction of a border barrier.

Soros-Tied Hillary Alumni Group Raising Funds to Challenge Trump’s ‘Racist Wall’ in Courts

NEW YORK — Demand Justice, an organization founded by former members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and associated with a “social welfare organization” financed by billionaire activist George Soros, is raising money for an eventual court fight against what the group describes as President Trump’s proposed “racist, unnecessary wall.”

Demand Justice claims: “This lawless president has created a humanitarian crisis along the southern border of our country by targeting asylum seekers; already, two children have died in U.S. border patrol custody.”

The organization fails to mention that Trump’s proposed barrier seeks to stop the “humanitarian crisis” of illegal aliens, including children, attempting the dangerous trek to cross the porous U.S.-Mexico border.

USS Stennis sailors hard at work fighting ISIS from the Persian Gulf

U.S. warplanes thundered off the runway as the USS John C. Stennis maneuvered through the Persian Gulf during an intense 24 hours that sent scores of bomb-carrying fighters into Iraq and Syria, where American air power remains on display despite talk of a troop drawdown.

For now, the mission in the region hasn’t changed, carrier group commander Rear Adm. Mike Wettlaufer told Stars and Stripes on Tuesday aboard the Stennis.

“We are given missions to do and we fulfill those missions whether it’s delivering ordnance where the ground commander may need it or providing overwatch for folks on the ground,” Wettlaufer said. “Our presence is part of the overall joint coalition force presence here.”

The presence is a signal of the U.S. commitment to ongoing operations in the Middle East, sailors said, and even some deploying for the first time said they are ready for whatever may come.

The USS Stennis arrived in the Persian Gulf last month — the first carrier visit to the region since April — at a time of heightened tensions.

Senior Executive of Huawei Canada Leaves Post As Company Faces Increasing Scrutiny

TORONTO—A senior executive with Huawei Canada is leaving his post after working for more than seven years for the Chinese telecom giant, which is facing increasing scrutiny over its close ties to Beijing.

Scott Bradley, who was Huawei Canada’s senior vice president for corporate affairs, indicated in a LinkedIn post that he no longer holds that position. He couldn’t immediately be reached for comments.

Huawei, founded by Ren Zhengfei, a former officer with China’s People’s Liberation Army, has been cited as a security risk in intelligence circles due to its close ties with the Chinese communist regime, with Western intelligence officials raising concerns that the company’s equipment can be used by Beijing for espionage.

The company is also at the center of a diplomatic spat between China and Canada, as its chief financial officer and Ren’s daughter, Meng Wanzhou, was arrested in Canada on an extradition request from the United States. Following Meng’s arrest, China warned Canada of “grave consequences,” and has detained two Canadians on charges of endangering national security.

Routine Vaccination Kills UK Cancer Expert Shortly After The Jab

Who would have ‘thunk’ it: a routine international traveler’s vaccination apparently delivered organ failure to renowned cancer expert Martin Gore, 67, who took the Yellow Fever vaccine.

Can we equate Dr. Gore’s sudden death with what infants often experience after receiving vaccines, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome [1]?

The doctor was a professor of cancer medicine at the Royal Marsden NHS foundation trust and the Institute of Cancer Research in London.

Dr. Gore’s “contribution as medical director for 10 years, a trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and as a clinician is unparalleled,” [2] according to those who knew him.

The above sad story can be considered ‘proof’ of just how ‘religiously’ medical doctors, who ought to know better, believe the pseudoscience about vaccines literally ‘force-fed’ to them by Big Pharma, the U.S. CDC/FDA and sophisticated Pharma reps!

NO CRISIS? 21 Burned Bodies Discovered Along U.S./Mexico Border In Area CNN’s Jim Acosta Visited

CNN’s Jim Acosta and others have been making the claim that there is absolutely no problem at our open border.

Acosta even traveled down to McAllen, Texas on the day President Trump went to visit the border.

He inadvertently proved we need a physical barrier when he posted a video on Twitter talking about how peaceful it is where there are barriers.

The area a few hours from where Acosta visited the border just turned into a crime scene with 21 bodies.

Gang violence is a big problem in border towns where people turn up dead or missing.

MS-13 and other gangs are trafficking drugs and trying to move them across the border.

In this case police believe it was a turf battle between the Zetas and Gulf cartels trying to control the Rio Grande Valley.

James Woods called out the “non-existent” border in a tweet about the bodies found in burned-out cars in a northern Mexico border town near the U.S. border:

Intel announces new data center processors and more

New Xeons, AI processors, and 5G capabilities are among the announcements Intel made at CES this week.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) may seem like an odd place to announce server processors, but Intel knows full well the eyes of the tech world are on the show. And what better place to corral a bunch of journalists?

First up was shipment of the new Xeon Scalable CPU, code-named Cascade Lake, featuring improved artificial intelligence (AI) and memory capabilities. Cascade Lake is the first to feature support to the company's Optane DC persistent memory and instruction set, called DL Boost, to facilitate AI-based deep learning (DL) inference.
