I didn't buy those tapes but the description sounded like a form of enhanced hypnosis to me. Similar to those stop smoking tapes they were hawking back in the day.
Non-conformity keeps one independent of the narratives and capable of critical discernment. Everyone will think you're a lunatic since you won't take a side in their CD driven pettiness. Long term benefit is increased discernment to use when shit gets really weird - like now.
