R. Kelly denied permit to hold concert in wake of scandal

He was born and raised in Illinois, but R. Kelly is not welcome in Springfield.

Kelly, who has been embroiled in another sexual misconduct scandal since Lifetime aired a series called "Surviving R. Kelly" last week, was planning to hold the Spring Break Jam in April. However, organizers' submission for a permit to hold the concert was denied on Thursday.

The event was to be headlined by the R&B star at the Exposition Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on April 6.

The permit was denied due to security concerns, Department of Agriculture spokesperson Denise Albert told the Chicago Tribune. The Department of Agriculture is responsible for reviewing permits since it was being held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

That can be litigated. It will be litigated but in state court. It's actually a federal issue now that pot has technically been "legalized" (not really) for a certain class. Illinois MM patients can do private transfers but not through FFL. They don't even arrest someone with an MM card and a loaded gun. They also issue carry permits to MM patients. Way state sees it, it's a federal issue. The actual law begins with "…shall not diminish or deny any rights…." Feds prohibit pot. Oregon Supreme Court said the same when it reinstated a man's license to carry after it was revoked for him being an MM patient.
