probably historic. 60 has the most/diverse divisors. Easiest to handle without too much difficulties & still a large enough number.

similar reason, and also time & a circle are connected via Earth's rotation. Like angles can be measured in minutes/seconds as well. But there's also gons for example (400 in a circle).
