I've met plenty of conservatives whose thinking was rooted almost entirely in emotional sentiment, and there was no way of getting 'reason' through that mud. This 'liberal/conservative; right/left' dualistic thinking is superficial and childish. You have much to learn anon, I wish you well.
This is making a good point, but it is not accurate. It is not that I believe that one has more value than the other - it is that the guy that will give you something actually valuable for it does. More to the point - it is that seven billion believe one is worth more than the other.
‘…the problem with liberalism in a nutshell’ … ‘… the whole liberal ethos…’ – indeed, you found this for the most part. For myself, I have found no such difference between the two sides of that duality regarding a tendency to ‘emotional thinking’ – hence my observation. Delighted you will continue to learn – nothing in what I wrote suggested I thought otherwise for myself – were you mislead by an emotional reaction to critique perhaps?
hehe, fair enough.
