The Conspiracy of Boredom
We now live in a world where we are no longer alone with our thoughts. If we have even one moment alone, in the line at the grocery store for example, we pull out our phones or grab a magazine or maybe grab a candy bar.
While it is certainly no surprise that most of us prefer to be entertained to being bored, the problem is that we are losing the capacity to be bored at any level at any time. We no longer appreciate the true nature of the world around us, and we are always seeking something better, more exciting - forgetting and ignoring the true nature of our existence.
The problem is we have forgotten how to be bored, and that is leading to a darker world. It is leading to a world where nothing, even reality, is good enough anymore.
The conspiracy is that without the ability to be bored, we miss out the true beauty that is reality itself. We stop seeking after the truth, and I think, we lose sight of something bigger and more beautiful than ourselves (to me that is God). The Bible, for example, says that nature itself is proof of God, but who will have time to examine that claim in the future?
No matter your spiritual beliefs, the point is that boredom allows us to explore our possible spiritual nature, and if nothing else, it helps us find and seek the truth.
Most of us are here because one day, we had a moment to actually think and realize something is not quite right with the world today. We had a moment to examine and think for ourselves.
