Paid for by George Soros

$20 million invested in The Young Turks

Passengers on “The Clinton Train”

We liked the Young Turks when they started and then something felt “off” about them.

Now I know what it is.

Is anyone pulling the strings?

Maybe the group that gave them $20 million dollars last year.

The same people who invested in the Young Turks are major passengers on “The Clinton Train.”

Colossal TSA failure allowed firearm onboard plane departing Atlanta. Is the shutdown to blame?

A passenger managed to smuggle a firearm aboard a plane leaving Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Jan. 3, the Transportation Security Administration announced over the weekend, leading many to wonder if the government shutdown is to blame for the security breech.

TSA agents, who police security checkpoints at every passenger airport in the U.S., are required to work during the shutdown but are not being paid for their work. The predicament has led to an increasing number of agents missing work over the last three weeks.

What are the details?

"TSA has determined standard procedures were not followed and a passenger did in fact pass through a standard screening TSA checkpoint with a firearm at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on the morning of January 3," the TSA said in a statement, according to CNN.

Delta Airlines said the passenger boarded a flight headed for Narita International Airport in Tokyo. Sometime during the flight, the passenger disclosed he was carrying the firearm, and the airline immediately informed the TSA. The passenger was cooperative and "was met by Japanese authorities upon landing," the Washington Post reported.

TSA said agency officials have "held those responsible [for the security breach] appropriately accountable."

Is the shutdown to blame?

TSA dismissed the suggestion the government shutdown, which is now the longest in U.S. history, is to blame for the security lapse.

"The perception that this might have occurred as a result of the partial government shutdown would be false," TSA said. "The national unscheduled absence rate of TSA staff on Thursday, January 3, 2019, was 4.8% compared to 6.3% last year, Thursday, January 4, 2018. So in fact, the national call out rate was higher a year ago than this year on that date."

TSA did not, however, provide statistics specific to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport — the busiest airport in the world — or for the security checkpoint responsible for the security failure.

Meanwhile, TSA Assistant Administrator Michael Bilello said on Twitter Sunday that "security standards remain uncompromised at our nation's airports."

Trump rejects Graham's call to reopen government

President Trump on Monday said he is standing by his demand for border wall funding, dismissing calls from one of his top Republican allies to temporarily reopen the government.

Asked by reporters about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) suggestion that Trump sign a stopgap spending bill to buy more time for talks, Trump responded, “I did reject it.”

“I’m not interested. I want to get it solved. I don’t want to just delay it. I want to get it solved,” he said.

The comments come on the 24th day of the partial government shutdown and underscore that there is no end in sight to the standoff over wall funding.

Graham suggested during an interview on “Fox News Sunday” that the president could reopen the government to entice Democrats to return to the negotiating table.

“I would urge him to open up the government for a short period of time, like three weeks, before he pulls the plug. See if we can get a deal,” Graham said. “If we can’t at the end of three weeks, all bets are off — see if he can do it by himself with the emergency powers. That is my recommendation.”

Democrats have already pushed for that solution, passing a series of spending bills to reopen government agencies while funding the Department of Homeland Security through Feb. 8 to buy more time for talks.

Graham has repeatedly urged Trump to consider using his emergency powers to bypass Congress and build the wall, but the president reiterated that he is not interested in taking that step for the time being.

“I’m not looking to call a national emergency,” he said. “This is so simple, we shouldn’t have to.”

The president also hit Democrats for traveling to Puerto Rico for an event while he has been at the White House.

“I’ve been here all weekend,” he said. “The Democrats have to do something, we need their votes, otherwise we can’t solve” the shutdown.

Trump AG nominee to say Congress, public should know results of Mueller probe

William Barr, President Trump's nominee for attorney general, will tell lawmakers this week that he will allow special counsel Robert Mueller to complete the Russia investigation and will work to make the findings public.

“I believe it is in the best interest of everyone — the president, Congress, and, most importantly, the American people — that this matter be resolved by allowing the special counsel to complete his work,” Barr will tell the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing, according to prepared remarks obtained by The Hill.

Barr will also say that his goal will be to "provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law" in regard to the special counsel's findings. And he will insist that he will not allow “partisan politics, personal interests, or any other improper consideration” to interfere with Mueller’s investigation or any other Justice Department probes.

“I can assure you that, where judgments are to be made by me, I will make those judgments based solely on the law and will let no personal, political, or other improper interests influence my decisions," he will say.

Confirmation hearings for Barr are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Barr has been the subject of intense scrutiny since his nomination in December over past criticisms of the Mueller investigation. Some of the president's critics have worried he could look to end the investigation or impede it in another way, through the oversight powers he would have at the helm of the Justice Department.

In particular, Barr has faced criticism from Democrats for submitting an unsolicited memo to the White House last year in which said the probe into possible obstruction of justice was based on a "fatally misconceived" theory.

In his testimony, Barr will tell lawmakers that he wrote the memo as a former attorney general accustomed to weighing in on high-profile legal matters and will describe it as “narrow in scope.” It did not address or question Mueller’s core probe, Barr will say.

Shuttered IRS Is Sending Automated Warnings of Asset Seizures, With Nobody to Call to Stop Them

The letter from the IRS is dated December 24, 2018, the Monday after the start of the government shutdown. The headline reads, “Notice of intent to seize (levy) your property or rights to property.” It describes how the recipient, Aaron Caddel, owner of a small chain of boutique bakeries called Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, has 30 days to pay the $86,296.40 owed the government or face seizure of the funds from his company’s bank account.

Caddel, who has two stores in Los Angeles and one in San Francisco, insists that the entire issue is a misunderstanding, one he had been working with the IRS to resolve before the shutdown. But now, though, as computer-generated delinquency letters continue to get sent, Caddel can’t find a live human being at the IRS to respond to him and prevent the asset seizure. “Right now, we’re reaching dial tones,” Caddel said.

The Intercept called the phone number provided on the letter for recipients wishing to contest the seizure, and got the following message: “Welcome to the Internal Revenue Service. Live telephone assistance is not available at this time. Normal operations will resume as soon as possible. … We apologize for any inconvenience.”

The almost Kafka-esque situation, in which the IRS methodically moves forward with cash seizures and taxpayers struggle to find anyone available to stop them, is one of the more unique consequences of the government shutdown, which on Saturday became the largest in American history. The shutdown has hurt small businesses more directly through the halting of Small Business Administration loans. But potentially being whacked in tax disputes, seemingly without recourse, adds a twinge of unfairness into the mix.

Small businesses aren’t the only ones suffering as the shutdown lingers, of course. Health and safety inspections of public housing have stopped, and rental assistance payments could dry up at the end of the month. A lack of tax information has begun to delay home closings, a major aspect of the economy. Airline safety is “eroding,” according to air traffic controllers and pilots. FBI agents say investigations have ground to a halt. Farmers are teetering as loans and statistical information about crops become unavailable. Washington, D.C., has become a ghost town as thousands of workers are furloughed, damaging local businesses. Native American tribes are having difficulty keeping basic services, like food banks and medical clinics, running. National parks are being tragically defaced by thrill-seekers, causing damage that will last decades or more. That’s just a partial list.

China Says Detained Former Canadian Diplomat Doesn't Have Diplomatic Immunity

Responding to comments from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who over the weekend accused China of violating the diplomatic immunity of former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig (one of two Canadian nationals who were arrested in China on vague "national security" related crimes, seemingly in retaliation for Canada's arrest of Meng Wanzhou), China affirmed on Monday that Kovrig, who worked as a diplomat for Canada for years stationed all over Asia, didn't benefit from diplomatic immunity.

Trudeau said it was "unfortunate" that China had arbitrarily detained Canadian citizens and "indeed in one case is not respecting diplomatic immunity." It was, according to the South China Morning Post, Trudeau's first public comment on the detentions. Canadian officials had previously said Kovrig was on unpaid leave from his job with the Canadian government.

"This is something that we are engaged right now both with Chinese officials and with our partners around the world where there is a concern for the need for all countries to do like Canada and to respect the rule of law and the independence of our judicial processes."

Trudeau later added that China was operating under the "rule of law."

Trudeau, speaking Friday during a press conference in Regina, said that Canada was operating under the “rule of law’’ in the Meng case, including granting her bail to allow her to be in her own home in Vancouver. He encouraged China to do the same.

"This is the way we live up to our rules within our justice system," Trudeau said.

"It is unfortunate that China has arbitrarily and unfairly detained two Canadian citizens, and indeed in one of the cases is not respecting diplomatic immunity," he continued.

But China, which has accused Canada of ignoring the rule of law with its arrest of Meng, rejected these claims, citing Kovrig's entrance to China on a business visa.

A Chinese foreign ministry officials suggested that Trudeau study the Vienna Convention to avoid making ridiculous claims about to whom it applies, per Reuters.

Asked about Trudeau’s comments, China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that the "relevant Canadian person" should "earnestly study" the Vienna Convention before speaking, so as to "not become a laughing stock."

"No matter how you look at it, Michael Kovrig does not have diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention,"she said.'

Kovrig and businessman Michael Spavor are both being held on vague national security violations. Western diplomats in Beijing have denounced the arrests as clearly reprisals for Meng's arrest, which China has also decried as a violation of the rule of law.

Trump Proposes Buffer Zone to Protect Syrian Troops from Turkey

President Donald Trump said in a tweet Sunday that creation of a buffer zone in northern Syria could protect the mix of Syrian Kurd and Arab Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the U.S., from a threatened attack by Turkey.

Trump also reaffirmed his commitment to a planned withdrawal of the estimated 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria, while continuing to destroy the remnants of the Islamic State.

"Create 20 mile safe zone" in northern Syria, the president said via Twitter. "Likewise, do not want the Kurds to provoke Turkey."

Trump also said that attacking the SDF would be against Turkey's long-term interests.

"Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds," he said.

Trump gave no timetable, but said that once troop withdrawal is complete, the U.S. could attack from a base outside Syria if ISIS attempted to regroup.

"Starting the long overdue pullout from Syria while hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions," he said. "Will attack again from existing nearby base if it reforms."

Trump returned to the theme that the U.S. has borne the burden of fighting ISIS, and it is now time to withdraw.

"Russia, Iran and Syria have been the biggest beneficiaries of the long term U.S. policy of destroying ISIS in Syria - natural enemies," he said. "We also benefit but it is now time to bring our troops back home. Stop the ENDLESS WARS!"

Also on Sunday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the planned U.S. troop withdrawal from Syria amounted to a "tactical change" that would not alter the overall U.S. mission to inflict a lasting defeat on the Islamic State, counter Iran and safeguard local partnered forces.

Retired Secret Service Agent Files Lawsuit Against Clintons, John Podesta and Deep State Trump Haters

A former Secret Service Agent — who remains an outspoken critic of the Clintons since he left the White House protection detail and voluntarily left the employ of the agency — has filed a civil lawsuit against former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a list of others from the so-called Deep State.

“It’s amazing that a story like this is ignored by most of the nation’s news media since it opens the door to more extensive probes by the GOP of Democratic Party members, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and a number of so-called journalist who espouse their hatred for President Trump and anyone who supports him,” said Claude Rheinhold, a retired police commanding officer.

In addition to the Clinton Family’s scandalous activities such as the Uranium deal with Russia and suspected money laundering , Byrne fingers a number of Clinton associates and supporters as lawsuit defendants, including:

Green Berets heading to civilian trials in Florida for murder and child rape cases

Two 7th Special Forces Group soldiers are scheduled for hearings on the same day, with the same Okaloosa County, Florida, judge, according to court records.

Staff Sgts. Derek McKinney and William Mrozek are due in court Feb. 18 following arrests in April. McKinney was charged with second-degree murder, after the shooting death of his estranged ex-wife, while Mrozek faces two charges of sexual battery of a child under 12 years old and one count of child cruelty.

Attorneys for McKinney and Mrozak did not respond to requests for comment.

Mrozak’s charges stem from summer 2017, when two girls, ages 7 and 11, spent two weeks in his Crestview, Florida, home. Court filings do not identify the girls by name or explain his relationship to them.

“As far as I know, that never happened, but that is descriptive,” Mrozek told the girls’ mother when she confronted him in a recorded phone call earlier this year.

The children described being restrained and penetrated multiple times during their visit, with Mrozek urging them not to tell anyone what had happened, according to the police report.

The girls' mother first reported the incidents to Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where the family lives. Mrozak was arrested in Florida in April.

That same week, McKinney was charged with murder after a neighbor heard a gunshot “following a domestic dispute,” and his estranged wife was found dead in her bedroom.
