I'd like to have armed teachers for another reason, which might be why there's such resistance to it.
Current educational policy is to reduce teacher authority, to make the school a "teaching and learning community", and all this hogwash. When I went to school, I wasn't exactly scared of teachers, actually I didn't know what they could or couldn't do. I just knew my job was to obey them.
If we could get back to that, our schools would work better. And the armed teacher is less likely to be "in the mix" and more likely a bit aloof.
