Spent two hours with State Water Master office in Oregon.

Some key points:

*Costs thousands in permits and studies to build a farm pond, regardless of size.

*Even if you have water rights to a body of water it is only for irrigation and limited in scope by CFM (cubic feet per minute) on permit

*For gold mining no method is allowed other than shovel (banned suction dredging) Federally Protected (mining rights act)

*You can harvest water from rooftops and do anything you want with it.

Going to need a lot of sheds to fill a 30,000 gal pond
