Same as the hysteria with Flynn and Sullivan during the sentencing hearing, coupled with the whistleblower testimony the week prior. They needed to get the message out that an unregistered lobbyist working in a high-level government position constitutes treason.
It's not even a plausible theory. They were picked because they're honest.
Particularly RR. Both sides want a legitimate investigation. The left because the legit Dems believed the hype and don't want a dirty prosecutor getting the case tossed, the right/Trump because they want a legitimate exoneration. In either case, a dirty RR or RM means ANOTHER investigation when this one is deemed illegitimate.
