>When did mattis fly off the handle
>I don't see Gen. Mattis as the "rage-quit" type…he seems a bit more calculating than that.
His resignation letter was disrespectful, the fact he printed 50 copies for the press before he presented it to POTUS indicates vindictiveness
POTUS made the decision to pull out of Syria - Mattis challenged that decision in public – this was a textbook act of insubordination
Unity of Command - anyone in the military can give their advice, their opinion, etc. up the chain of command, but once a decision has been made - everyone [must] support the commander's decision, otherwise they are insubordinate. He could (cautiously) reiterate his position to POTUS, but not in front of subordinates, and not in public because that undermines the authority of POTUS … contrary to good order and discipline
I can't emphasize enough what a big deal that really was - a black eye for the entire DoD, that's why POTUS had to fire him.
I couldn't figure out why in the world he would serve fast food.
But I'm betting he had to go the fast food route because if he tried to have it catered, the regular WH caterer (and service staff) could sue because they were on furlough? Union rules.
