Update regarding email sent inquiring about ABA's Guantanamo Legal Observer Project
Sent an email asking about opportunity's for the public who have no legal background. Here are the requirements:
In order to attend the observer must be:

An ABA member
-
A Criminal Justice Section member
-
An Attorney
-
A US citizen with valid passport
-
Pass a DoD approval process
In short the answer is no however it was worth a try as it's not entirely clear on the ABA's site if these positions exist for non-legal observation. They do not.
