It's also wrong to compare actual crime numbers of illegal vs legal and citizen. It has to be per capita, but as you say, they're undocumented to start with so the figures would be useless.
Even if it turned out there were many more illegal immigrants than thought, so the per capita stats weren't as bad, it still wouldn't look good.
