Sorry China, but J-20 Stealth Fighters are No Match for an F22 or F35

Michael Raska, an assistant professor at Singapore’s S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, was quoted as saying in the article. “Among the issues,” Reuters noted, “China’s J-20 and J-31 stealth fighters cannot super-cruise, or fly at supersonic speeds like their closest rivals, Lockheed Martin’s F-22 and F-35 stealth planes, without using afterburners.” China’s first fifth-generation aircraft is having a major issue.

As Dave Majumdar previously covered , China recently declared that its J-20 fighter jet had attained initial operational capability. “China's latest J-20 stealth fighter has been commissioned into the air force's combat service,” China’s Defense Ministry said on February 9. Chinese analysts touted the country’s achievement as breaking the Western stranglehold on stealthy aircraft. "The J-20 will also change the history of the air force in Asia-Pacific region. In the past, only the U.S. and its allies like Japan were capable of arming stealth fighter jets. But now, their monopoly in this region has been broken by China's J-20," Song Zongping, a military expert, was quoted as saying in official media.

Terrorist shot by Police in Fountain Hills, AZ

An 18-year-old man shot by a Maricopa County sheriff's deputy in Fountain Hills earlier this month now is being charged as a terrorist who was acting on behalf of ISIS, according to a complaint filed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

The complaint filed Tuesday alleges Ismail Hamed "intentionally or knowingly, did provide advice, assistance, direction or management'' to the terrorist organization, which is listed under several formal names under which the organization is known, including the Islamic State of Iraq al-Sham. He is facing one count of terrorism under state law, a Class 2 felony, for that allegation.

Hamed faces a second count of terrorism for his actions on Jan. 7, the night he was shot and wounded by a deputy in Fountain Hills outside the town's government complex.

Hamed also is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which was filed prior to the terrorism charges were filed

Further court records pertaining to his arrest, including a detailed probable-cause statement related to his arrest, were not made available by Maricopa County Superior Court. A court official said the case had been ordered sealed by a judge.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Hamed repeatedly called 911 and asked to speak with a sheriff's deputy at the Fountain Hills substation on Jan. 7.

At 5:35 p.m., a sergeant went to speak with Hamed in the parking lot.

Hamed then began to throw rocks at the sergeant and brandished a knife, the Sheriff's Office said.

The sergeant asked Hamed to drop the weapon, but he didn't comply, the agency said after he was initially arrested.

The sergeant then shot Hamed, who was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound.

The sergeant who shot Hamed has worked with the force for 12 years, the Sheriff's Office said.

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ — An 18-year-old man who was shot by a deputy from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Fountain Hills earlier this month has been charged with two counts of terrorism, according to court records.

Court records obtained by ABC15 state that Ismail Hamed provided "advice, assistance, direction or management to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also knows as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS)."

At about 5:30 p.m., an MCSO sergeant contacted Hamed, who allegedly began throwing rocks at the sergeant. After being asked to stop, Hamed then pulled out a knife and advanced toward the sergeant, according to MCSO.

MCSO says the sergeant again told the suspect to stop, before shooting him to stop the threat.

Hamed was taken to the hospital for treatment and was booked into jail the next day. No other injuries were suffered in the incident.

Court paperwork shows that Hamed was initially charged Monday with aggravated assault against a MCSO deputy. Terrorism charges were filed separately on Tuesday.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Thursday.
