As already mentioned, Prime95 is a program for finding Mersenne prime numbers. Mersenne primes are named after Marin Mersenne, a 17th century French scholar who worked extensively with this specific type of prime number.
He also is known for leading the fight against the occult and mystical thinkers. Specifically the Brotherhood of Rosicrucians.
