>It's not a lie if you believe it.

Damn, this reminds me of a half-slide i never got into…

I member binge watching some Seinfeld episodes way back, and just got so SICK of the lies, the lies…

I know - and knew back then - that of course it's a sitcom, so there has to be some conflict to get a funny situation, but 99% of the time it's just lies, lies, lies… dumb, stupid, shallow lies that the characters always follow through… and it's maddening because every dam teim the situation would just resolve itself if only the character was just sincere for a damn second.

Again, i know it's a sitcom, and that's part of it, but still…. never got anything near to that ugly, sick feeling i got from any other show

i'd watched the show and enjoyed it for years, but just noticed/had that reaction when going through a VHS tape a friend lent me (yeah, that old)…

watching many episodes back to back, seeing the patterns repeating, it jumped out: most of the time, and sometimes both A and B story, all hinged on lies, small or big, never backtracked by the characters…

and me stupidly (because i know it's fiction but can't help it) reacting "WHY DON'T YOU JUST TELL HIM/HER AND GET IT OVER WITH AAAARGH"

around that point i figured i overdosed

and didn't think much of it, but what with programming and social engineering and such, can't help but wonder if there's more than just un-imaginative scriptwriting there
