Of course, I don't know, but suspect that not everyone who broadsides POTUS is actually doing things that would land them in jail. I'm guessing that some are just deeply embedded in the culture (although not deeply enough to "know" what goes on, although they might suspect). I know a lot of liberals like that. They don't know because they don't want to know. Why this type of liberal fights so hard is that discovering the truth will shatter their reality.

Depends on the field and the level. The higher up you go, the more freedom you have.
