How that the Dims control the House, they stand 3rd in line to the throne. Rather than fight the masses there best move is to eliminate the top 2 in the game and resume control…one of the few moves Dims have left.
People who saved money(already taxed) would now have to pay federal tax again when they spend it.
The states would now have to administer, collect, remit, and pay for tax dollars to be forward to the federal govt. This burdens the states and unjustly enriches the federal govt.
Under a consumption tax, the unemployed and retired(already paid taxes) would now have to have the tax. As many Americans are unemployed and no longer counted in the "unemployment" statistics,t he govt will say this tax will affect very few as unemployment is at all time low whereas in really millions of unemployed who can not afford to pay taxes would be forced to pay 23% tax.
Taxes are illegal no matter how they try to package them to make them sound more pleasing. The federal tax would not stop the states from charging income taxes, property taxes, fees, licenses, mandatory insurances, road use taxes, alcohol taxes, tobacco taxes, weed taxes and other "taxes" called by other names.
Stock markets are rigged, anyone who thinks the markets respond to economic forces is only fooling themselves.

The govt will still control public education because whoever controls education then controls the young minds of today and the voters of tomorrow. The govt will never give up the brainwashing and propaganda platform. Where do you think all the younger people learned socialism and atheism is good and capitalism, freedom, and white men are evil?
If rich people didnt control politicians they fear politicians would tax them into having to actually work for a living.
