It's well established that "fossil fuels" are from not necessarily fossils. Maybe degradation of plant matter. Or maybe some more interesting and deeper process where oil is produced in equilibrium deep in the earth. Thomas Gold's theory. It is radioactive if you get very deep deposits after all.

MIT had a tokamak with positive net energy and they were having success controlling the magnetic field, until Obama cancelled it. There is now interest at MIT, according to the Dean of Engineering, in bringing it back or redoing newer and better. I don't see this as 30 years away.
