Scott Shane admits that AET directed Project Birmingham in Dec but says nothing about it in Jan interview

''AET Digg, con't.''

Dec 19: Scott Shane lead author of the NYT "Secret Experiment" article indirectly referenced in Post 2635. Describes Project Birmingham but makes no mention about the role of AET, although Shane knew it in Sept (see below).

Dec 27: Buzzfeed publishes "A NY Times Reporter Spoke At An Event Organized By Alabama Dirty Tricksters"

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/alabama-dirty-tricksters-invited-a-new-york-times-reporter

Key points:

  • NYT: Money from Reid Hoffman used to run "small" disinfo campaign in Alabama

  • One of the authors knew about it from an off-the-record mtg in Sept

  • BF got a "confidential report" indicating it not just an expt

  • Sept Mtg held by AET: MD & Sara Hudson described the project

  • Scott Shane was there to speak about Russian disinfo (he's written on it before); said the report shocked him

  • But he signed an NDA, so hasn't much to say (NDA cover illegal activities?)

Jan 11: Shane interview: "How Democrats Used Dirty Tricks in the 2017 Alabama Senate Race"

https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/democrats-dirty-tricks-alabama-senate-race

What Shane says:

  • Proj Birmingham purpose: to find out what Russians did in 2016 election

  • Alabama election = testing ground

  • "Weird" that New Knowledge was "part of this conspiracy"

  • "The written report makes it very clear that the effort was designed to help Doug Jones win."

  • Justification: that the GOP does dirty tactics so Dems have to, as well

Look at the time sequence, anons

Dec 19: Shane published NYT article; no mention of AET there.

Dec 27: Shane admits he knew in Sept that AET ran Birmingham.

Jan 11: Shane mentions nothing about AET in an interview; lying by omission.

See Caps to compare.

Every once and a while, the stuff here is ahead of the news cycle. I'd like to think it's because we're so clever but it's really because Fake News simply ignores the most interesting stuff!

Interesting the intuitions people have about who is here. I remember tho when anons got into a discussion with someone who builds golf courses and one casually asks about where they were. KEK! I dugg on it but found no evidence it was who we hoped it was.

Our news breaks a lot faster than the MSM's does. If enough anons are here, news can be stale after just half a bread. You also have to decide whether to do something when you don't know who else might be doing it. Hard if it's a lot of work. Transcribing POTUS speeches is like that.
