Look at your environment. Are there any leaks in your basement? Mold? Right now I'm working on a country house where they had installed a walk-in shower above an old dumbwaiter well. The drain had been leaking for a number of years and caused the dumbwaiter to mold and rot. The house also had forced air heat, meaning all the mold and rot from the basement had been blown all over the house every time the hvac turned on. Coincidentally, the people who lived there were on oxygen and they'd rented the place for over 13 years. Older couple, gentleman was receiving care from the VA so they moved to be closer. I wouldn't be surprised if his condition dramatically improved after the move.
