In our culture the drum is sacred, the song…same…you do not march about with white people banging the drum in the face of others and singing incoherently a sacred song. I could not even fucking recognize the song..he's permitting himself to be followed by white photographers and some stupid ass white woman…as if he were the leader of something. I did not recognize the song he was so drunk…and on top of that it was a circle song…and there was no circle (call and response)…what was the fucking point?

Everything about what that man did was disrespectful to our culture. I have NEVER seen anyone bang a drum up in someone's face. ever. White people are welcome at powwows, we even have intertribal dances where everyone can dance….the drum is for ceremony, the fire, the gathering…it is not for getting up in the face of someone and trying to intimidate them.

Just because someone is NA do not think they give a shit about our culture and traditions…he is unwashed, his regalia is dirty, and he is supposed to be representing? Go on jewtube and look at a few powwow videos. He is also probably drunk as a fucking skunk, another disrespect to the drum. You will see / hear the call and response of the grandmother drum…no one touches that drum unless invited…maybe ya'll making calls about this video need to go read up on how we actually DO things…two things you never fuck with..the drum and the fire.

We call them drums..at a powwow there will be (depending on the size of the powwow) many drum circles. The headman will call on each circle throughout the powwow.

Each thing in regalia has meaning. Most of us do our own beadwork and make our own regalia. MOST modern regalia is not traditional but built up over years…such as the jingle dress and camp dress which came from trading

He was not sober, his regalia was dirty, he was dirty…some white fool took advantage of him is what happened. He's followed by some white woman you see in the video and some ginger photographer…this was a set up.

That poor kid probably didn't have a clue what was happening or how to act. The comments from what I'd call fake indians on the video are horrifying and there is no elder walking in the right way that would support that for a second.
