Art has always been a sort of debate forum for "high society." Ever since greek theater, at least, the floor of entertainment was a podium for philosophy and policy debate. The Greek Tragedy, itself, was designed to provoke introspection and deep thought about a subject. Authors/directors have long been connected to the wealthy, who are often themselves involved with the recognized philosophers.

 

I don't think it is all an effort to subvert. I think the subversion has already occurred. Most people believe life is dull and drab - they were born to work and hollow out a small little NPC hovel to survive in… And the next day is just as boring as the last. That was the subversion.

 

Now, they can openly state the truth and people automatically write it off as fiction or fantasy. I think some in media are trying to sound the alarm - but they are messages in a bottle, so to speak. "In case of this - you have heard of this, before." A sort if psychological survival toolkit to prepare the masses.

 

Of course, you have your new-wave of brainwashing that tries to inject progressivism, but even the normies are starting to get fed up with that.
