Some of them are, yes.
I think there are hopes/plans to direct those who participate in these types of forums to open discussion of more than just Q. I don't want to say a complete disregard for patents and confidential research - but the trades have suffered greatly under the power of corporate patent mills and the decline of property ownership.
We should consider the possibility of expanding on many open development and research projects. I'm not sure how to legally conduct things like medical research as a distributed network of volunteer participants - but the concept is interesting. "Hard" sciences are less problematic - but it seems like it wouldn't be outside the realm of practicality or organize an anon expedition to antarctica composed of volunteers who either provide a trade directly or help to fund things that need to be bought.
We are really, as a civilization, not using the internet to its fullest capacity. Granted - a good portion of that is because the system has leveraged us into a daily grind for life in many cases.
I think the ultimate plan of Q extends well beyond just what we have seen so far… I mean - I am designing things with both a 3d printer and my knowledge of electronics - with several other people, it should be more than possible to put together a TIG-based metal fabricator for hobbyists. That opens up a hell of a lot of doors.
There are a lot of things we are capable of. The mod community for many games shows the kind of dedication that can exist - some mods (Enderal) surpass the base game in size/length of content and in overall production quality. Being able to apply the same or similar to manufacturing, chemistry systems, etc… Mass manufacturing will always have a role in society. It will almost always be more effective to buy an angle bracket or a bearing assembly over printing your own … Unless you have something about it you need to be exotic.
Autism has been weaponized all throughout history, but few have actually looked at how this can be done outside the internet or in ways that break a sort of 4th wall between the internet and reality.
… And I'm having to captcha every post, today…..
