Liberals Seek To Ruin Life Of Pro-Trump Teen For Just STANDING There While Being Taunted By Leftist January 20, 2019 Chris Donaldson

Liberals Seek To Ruin Life Of Pro-Trump Teen For Just STANDING There While Being Taunted BThe lives of a number of Kentucky Catholic teenagers were upended over a misleading video that subjected them to the vengeance of the social media mob after the media rush to judgment spun a narrative that they had acted out in a racist manner against an elderly Native American man.

The students at Covington Catholic were attending the March For Life in Washington D.C. when they encountered participants of The Indigenous Peoples March and in the ensuing confusion, the Indian began beating a drum in their faces.

Being that the teens happened to be wearing the red MAGA hats popularized by President Trump, out-of-context clips of the alleged racism resulted in a media firestorm as well as demands for them to be expelled from their school and it didnโ€™t stop there.

A certain celebrity who gained notoriety for the macabre photo shoot of her hoisting a bloody replica of Trumpโ€™s head called for the boys to be doxed, thereby pouring gasoline onto an already volatile situation that could end up with someone being physically harmed or at the very least, subject to having their life destroyed because they were unfortunate enough to become proxies for Truy Leftist January 20, 2019 Chris Donaldson

APOLOGIES ROLL IN FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOL PROTESTERS AS FULLER PICTURE OF EVENTS EMERGES

3:30 PM 01/20/2019 | US

Scott Morefield | Reporter

It was the hate crime of the century.

Or so some in the media appeared to think, judging by the condemnations and mass hysteria that followed initial footage of a group of Covington Catholic High School students โ€” some of whom were wearing MAGA hats โ€” supposedly harassing an older Native American man.

Except, what may have seemed to be one thing at first turned out to be something else altogether:

WATCH:

As details emerged, some individuals and outlets who had been quick to condemn the students retracted their words and even apologized.

National Review published a scathing piece by its deputy managing editor, Nicholas Frankovich.

Turkey ready to move into Kurdish-controlled Manbij 'without delay' โ€“ Erdogan to Trump

Published time: 21 Jan, 2019 00:05

Turkey is ready to take over Manbij, a Kurdish-controlled town in Syria, "without delay,"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the US leader, denouncing a suicide blast that had killed four US Americans as a provocation.

In a phone call late Sunday, Erdogan told President Donald Trump that the Turkish forces are poised to assume security functions in Manbij immediately. Erdogan argued that the terrorist attack last week that claimed the lives of four Americans, including two US troops, was a deliberate provocation aimed at forestalling the withdrawal of US forces from Syria, announced by Trump last month.

Two service members as well as a civilian and a contractor were killed after a bomb detonated inside a cafรฉ in Manbij last Wednesday. On Saturday, Trump flew to the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to attend a ceremony to receive the remains of four slain Americans and spoke with their relatives.

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack, prompting those opposed to the decision to again question its timing.

During the call, Erdogan extended his condolences to Trump. He reiterated that Ankara will not allow US-backed Kurdish YPG militia, which it considers an extension of Kurdistan's Workers' Party (PKK), undermine security in northeastern Syria.

Turkey views both ISIS and the YPG, a backbone of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as terrorist organizations that must be annihilated and driven out of Turkish borders.

Erdogan had previously warned Trump against backtracking on his pledge to withdraw some 2,000 US forces out of Syria, arguing that otherwise it would mean that ISIS had won

Trump has taken heat both from the Democrats and from his own Republican party for abruptly announcing a pullout of troops following a call with Erdogan in December. Trump reportedly made the decision to leave Syria amidst the call with his Turkish counterpart to the complete shock of his advisers and military brass, sparking a chain of resignations, including that of US defense secretary James Mattis. Trump's promise to get out of Syria made Erdogan delay the planned operation to kick YPG units out of the area east of the Euphrates River.

However, Ankara hinted that its patience is wearing thin and might run out if the US forces linger.

"If the [pullout] is put off with ridiculous excuses like Turks are massacring Kurds, which do not reflect the reality, we will implement this decision," Turkish Foreign Ministry Mevlรผt ร‡avuลŸoฤŸlu said earlier this month.

The US military is currently working on security arrangements with the Turkish forces to create a buffer zone between Turkey and the Kurdish fighters. The Kurds, meanwhile, invited the Syrian government to take over and have reportedly begun to leave the area. Erdogan, however, denied that the Kurdish units abandoned Manbij, calling the invitation a "psyop."

Meanwhile, Trump faces growing pressure at home over his plans to extricate troops from Syria. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), one of the most vocal critics of the move, warned on Saturday that the withdrawal can backfire and turn Syria into "Iraq on steroids."

Wealth inequality 'out of control,' Oxfam warns

By PAN PYLAS, ASSOCIATED PRESS DAVOS, Switzerland โ€” Jan 20, 2019, 7:06 PM ET

Email

Wealth inequality around the world is "out of control" and doing particular harm to women, anti-poverty campaigner Oxfam warned Monday ahead of the annual gathering of business and political leaders in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

Oxfam, which has for years been trying to bring attention to the issue ahead of the World Economic Forum, said in a report that billionaire fortunes increased by 12 percent last year โ€” the equivalent of $2.5 billion a day โ€” while the 3.8 billion people who make up the world's poorest half saw their wealth decline by 11 percent.

"This is not inevitable, this is unacceptable," Winnie Byanyima, Oxfam International's executive director said in an interview with The Associated Press.

In the report, which is based on figures from Credit Suisse' Wealth Databook and the annual Forbes 'Billionaires List', Oxfam said the number of billionaires has almost doubled since the financial crisis a decade ago yet tax rates on the wealthy and corporations have fallen to their lowest levels in decades.

"While corporations and the super-rich enjoy low tax bills, millions of girls are denied a decent education and women are dying for lack of maternity care," Byanyima said.

Oxfam said making taxes fairer will help address many of the world's ills. It said getting the world's richest 1 percent to pay just 0.5 percent extra tax on their wealth could raise more money than it would cost to educate the 262 million children out of school, and provide life-saving healthcare for 3.3 million people. It also suggested governments look again at taxes on wealth such as inheritance or property, which have been reduced or eliminated in much of the developed world and barely implemented in the developing world.

"Governments must now deliver real change by ensuring corporations and wealthy individuals pay their fair share of tax and investing this money in free healthcare and education that meets the needs of everyone โ€” including women and girls whose needs are so often overlooked," said Byanyima.

Byanyima, who has been a regular participant at the Davos gathering, defended the organization's continued participation at the World Economic Forum despite mounting evidence of growing inequality.

Byanyima said "the people in Davos" have the power to be "the solution to end extreme inequality."

"The solutions are there and that is why we come to Davos, to remind these leaders that you have made the commitment; now get on with the action. The policies are there, the solutions are proven."

The UKโ€™s only rocket to successfully launch a satellite into orbit is to be unveiled in Scotland after a 10,000-mile journey back home.

The Black Arrow projectile had lain at its crash landing site in the South Australian outback for more than 48 years.

Over time it was damaged by extreme weather and vandalism, but then space technology firm Skyrora stepped in to return it home.

The rocket โ€“ described as โ€œthe most important artefactโ€ of the UKโ€™s space industry โ€“ is to go on display in Penicuik, Midlothian, later this month.

We really hope the rocket will help to inspire current and future generations.

Daniel Smith, director at Skyrora, said: โ€œThis is quite feasibly the most important artefact linked to the UKโ€™s space history.

โ€œWhile our engineers have been working on our own launches, our STEM ambassadors have been arranging all of this in the background.

โ€œWeโ€™ll be unveiling it in Penicuik later this month, not far from our headquarters and workshop in Edinburgh.

โ€œWith the UK Government aiming to make us a launch nation again, it seemed like the perfect time to bring Black Arrow back.

โ€œWe really hope the rocket will help to inspire current and future generations of scientists and engineers.โ€

The UK Space Agency has previously announced ยฃ2.5 million of funding for a proposed vertical launch spaceport in Sutherland.

Developed and tested on the Isle of Wight, the Black Arrow programme completed four rockets between 1969 and 1971.

The third flight was the first and only successful UK-led orbital launch, but the programme was then cancelled.

This is said to have given the rocket โ€œcult statusโ€ among the space community.

The Black Arrowโ€™s journey home saw it transported across land and sea โ€“ making the trip from the Australian desert to Edinburgh via Adelaide.

Skyrora has also commissioned a plaque to be placed where Black Arrow had lain.

Dr Graham Turnock, chief executive of the UK Space Agency, said: โ€œBlack Arrow is testament to Britainโ€™s longstanding heritage in the space sector which continues to thrive today.

โ€œThe Governmentโ€™s Spaceflight Programme includes a series of education and outreach activities which I hope will play a major role in inspiring the next generation of space scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs.โ€

Skyrora successfully completed its inaugural sub-orbital test launch north of the border last year.

The companyโ€™s next rockets, Skylark Micro and SkyHy, will allow its team to gain more valuable launch experience, with the latter capable of reaching the edge of space โ€“ a feat never accomplished by a private company launching from the UK before.

'Amnesty is not a part of my offer': Trump defends proposal from critics on left and right

William Cummings, USA TODAY Published 2:21 p.m. ET Jan. 20, 2019 | Updated 6:56 p.m. ET Jan. 20, 2019

President Donald Trump criticized congressional Democrats on Sunday for rejecting his latest proposal to reach an agreement on funding for his proposed barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border and end the partial government shutdown, saying they shot him down "before I even got up to speak."

The shutdown, now in its 30th day, began after Democrats refused to include more than $5 billion for the construction of a border wall in a funding bill. Trump has insisted he will not sign an appropriations measure that doesn't include money for a barrier, and Democrats have insisted they won't negotiate on border security until the full federal government is reopened.

Both sides had refused to budge, and talks to reach an agreement had stalled even before Trump delivered a national television address on Saturday. He proposed a deal to end the shutdown in which he would get $5.7 billion to build a barrier and funding for other measures to address illegal immigration at the southern border.

As part of his deal, he would grant three years of protection from deportation for undocumented people who were brought into the U.S. as children โ€“ often referred to as DREAMers, this group had been covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals โ€“ and for people granted Temporary Protected Status because of a crisis in their home countries.

'It's anyone's guess what happens next': Democrats shoot down Trump's plan to end shutdown

From concrete wall to steel fences: A timeline of Trump's evolving border barrier concept

Democrats declared the offer a "non-starter" before Trump even delivered his address, calling the proposal "a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives."

On Sunday, Trump accused Democrats of ignoring the drug trafficking and crime he believes a border barrier would stop because they are focused on defeating him in the 2020 election โ€“ "which they are not going to win," he added, enthusiastically citing the "Best economy!"

"They should do the right thing for the Country & allow people to go back to work," Trump tweeted.

House Democrats have approved several measures to fund the government, but Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has not permitted them to come to the Senate floor for a vote because of the president's promise of a veto. McConnell does plan to introduce Trump's proposal in a Senate bill on Tuesday.

Vice President Mike Pence said it was "disappointing to see Speaker Pelosi reject the offer before the president gave his speech." But he expressed optimism that the situation might change when McConnell puts the measure forward for a vote.

"Democrats aren't going to accept that package," Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace told the vice president.

"Iโ€™m not sure that's true, Chris," Pence replied. "Weโ€™ve had a lot of dialogue."

When asked if he believed seven Senate Democrats would join with Republicans to pass the measure, Pence said, "Well, as the president often says, we'll see."

Israel says it is carrying out strikes on Iranian targets in Syria

23:57, UK, Sunday 20 January 2019

Israel's military says it is striking Iranian targets in Syria after it intercepted a rocket fired from Syrian territory.

In a statement, it said it was "currently striking" the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force in Syria and warned Syria's military against "attempting to harm Israeli territory or forces".

Israel's military said its air defence systems intercepted the rocket from Syria on Sunday, after Damascus accused Israel of carrying out air raids in the country's south.
