Jeffery Lurie, owner of the Eagles, is good friends with a lot of bad people. Including some Rothschilds.

Former President Bill Clinton celebrated his birthday on Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend. The longtime island visitor, who turned 65 last month, was joined for the party at Herring Creek Farm’s barn by host Lynn de Rothschild, who technically threw the party for Clinton, Vernon and Ann Jordan, and de Rothschild’s husband, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, all of whom have birthdays within a month of one another. The night included square dancing, dinner, and a surprise performance by Carly Simon and Ben Taylor. Partiers included Hillary Rodham Clinton, world’s richest human Carlos Slim, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and wife Christina (who produced the Matt Damon-narrated “Inside Job’’), Rosabeth Moss Kanter, “Bourne Identity’’ producer Doug Liman and artist mom Ellen Liman, Rose Styron, Joel and Tamara Buchwald, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Alan Dershowitz, writer Linda Fairstein, Foundation for a Civil Society’s Wendy Luers and her husband, William, of the UN Association, businessman Andrew Tisch, financial guy Steve Rattner and wife Maureen White, and Starwood Capital’s Barry Sternlicht, who flew in from the Hamptons for the festivities. Food was provided by Tea Lane Caterers.

It’s de rigueur to describe Ms. de Rothschild as one part knockout, one part business tycoon. Two years ago, she decided that a woman her age could do the job of an NFL cheerleader. And such a woman could, it turned out—if she was friends with Jeffrey and Christina Lurie, who own the Philadelphia Eagles, and the type to charm her way onto the field and then work hard enough to keep up with women half her age. (In telling the story, Ms. de Rothschild flexed a bicep to prove she hadn’t given up her training regimen.)
