>they may believe since running for president, any indictment would be considered a set-up by the President to rid himself from competition

Exactly right.

Anyone running for president is going to be difficult to prosecute for anything because they will be able to claim political targeting, so it is a smart move.

>They will fail though

Almost zero chance of failure, anon.

Because whatever "indictments" occur are being delayed indefinitely, by the time anyone at all is publicly indicted we will be very close to the 2020 primary season.

At that point, you can be sure the prosecutions will focus, first, on people not running for office against POTUS.

2020 Presidential Primary Schedule

In case anyone is wondering how presidential politics may figure into any upcoming law enforcement decisions, we are almost at the 1-year-to-go mark for the 2020 election season. In fact, within about 11 months, we will likely know the names of everyone who is running and who, most likely, will also be immune from prosecution until 2021.

(Super Tuesday 2020 is set for Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Now includes California)

Note: All dates are primaries unless otherwise noted as a caucus. Primaries and caucuses which are only being held by one party on that date are noted as (R) or (D). Most likely that will be the case.

You can be certain the political and MSM angle will be that Trump is targeting his political enemies just like in a banana republic.

That is going to make it difficult to prosecute in the court of public opinion, is all I'm saying.

Seems likely they would save such targets until after the election.
