“I also wanted to talk about one of our guests tomorrow night, been on the show before, really enjoyed having them on here, one of the news anchors for Fox News Bret Baier was supposed to be here tomorrow night,” Colbert began. “We found out he and his family were in a car accident in Montana, jaws of life had to get them out of there. They’re all in the hospital. They’re okay.”
Colbert then added that he had reached out to Baier and passed on a message from the recovering Fox News anchor. “We just want to say we hope you’re doing better,” he said. “We reached out to them, and Bret’s message is they’re going to be okay, thank you for the thoughts for him and his family and wear your seat belts, it makes a difference.”
“Fox & Friends” offered an update Tuesday morning, however, noting that Colbert had been mistaken about the need for Baier and his family to be pulled from the car with the jaws of life. (RELATED: Bret Baier Won’t Be Leaving Fox News Anytime Soon After This Deal)
Rather, they reported that a Good Samaritan — a man named Zach — had stopped and helped them to climb out of the flipped car.
