BEIJING: India on Tuesday pressed China to import more Indian goods, especially pharmaceutical and IT products, as top commerce officials of the two countries held talks in Beijing on the widening trade deficit, which last year crossed USD 57 billion.
Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan also discussed the progress made under Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) during his talks with Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Commerce, the Indian Embassy here said in a a press release.

France allegedly concerned over losing only ‘trump card’ in Syria
French diplomats are alarmed by the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, Le Figaro reported, citing high-ranking officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
According to the French media outlet, France has been losing political leverage in Syria from the very onset of the crisis, and US President Donald Trump’s decision to bring the troops back home may have dealt a fatal blow to Paris’ diplomatic capabilities.
“If they leave, our ground forces will be forced to follow them. Western countries risk losing the only remaining trump card – north of Syria”, one source told Le Figaro.
On the other hand, diplomats are not losing heart: since Trump’s announcement, the French authorities have been trying to talk the US president out of the pull-out or, at least, to put it on hold, the newspaper claims.

ISIS on last legs in eastern Euphrates after losing another town – map
The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) has suffered another string of losses in the eastern Euphrates region after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) made another big push in eastern Deir Ezzor.
Backed by U.S. airstrikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to assert full control over the small village of Mozan after overrunning the Islamic State’s positions on Monday morning.
In addition to capturing Mozan, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to seize 75 percent of the nearby town of Safaqinah; this forced the Islamic State to fall further back into their small Euphrates pocket.
Once the Syrian Democratic Forces take control of Safaqinah, they will only have two towns left to capture before the Islamic State is fully eliminated from the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley.
