I've attempted this on myself starting about 15 years ago and ending about 5 years ago. The drug melts the autism away for several hours. The key is to to "remember" your non-autistic self and to learn how to play that character in the sober state. It takes repeated attempts, and it can come at a price. It can be tempting to overdue and risky in terms of mood swings and cognitive deficits. It was fairly successful eventually. No one today would consider autistic other than residual quirks. Social anxiety is very low now. Just don't expect to ever be a full-blown extrovert.
