One thing that's got to be true is that there are multiple parties on both sides that are double-tripled levels of comp'ed.
People double-agenting, triple-agenting, people comp'ed to impossible levels that would still go against their controllers if the situation seemed favorable, good guys who've been up to their necks in shit but who hung out because they figured it'd be better to be on the inside where they could mitigate some of the evil bullshit rather than try to dip out and stick their heads in the sand.
It's an impossible level of chaotic mayhem behind the scenes. Bank on it.
